Zitkála-Šá
"Zitkála-Šá" is an original Earth-Based Oil piece (12"x9") created with a very fine, non-tarnishing, brilliant natural mica copper pigment and refined walnut oil. The original artwork displays a magnificent luster, breathing life into the painting and imbuing it with a unique appearance from every angle.
This portrait is titled by the name of a brave and resilient Native American musician, writer and activist, member of the Yankton Sioux (or Dakota) Nation. Zitkála-Šá ("Red Bird") fought for women's suffrage and Indigenous voting rights in the early 20th century.
